The EFR is divided into four sections:
Knowledge Development
EFR Knowledge development is a self-study program designed to help you learn:
Primary Care (CPR): Teaches participants how to respond to life-threatening emergencies. The course focuses on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development, and realistic scenario practice to make sure participants have the confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise.
Secondary Care (First Aid): Covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life-threatening. Participants focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill development, and scenarios.
Skill Develpment Exercises
During the skill development part of the Emergency First Response program, Participants learn the basic steps and subskills, then practice the skills under peer and instructor guidance. Repeated practice under controlled conditions allows participants to fine-tune performance, gain competence and build confidence for retention.
Scenario Practice
Simulated Emergency scenario practice allows participants to apply the skills they develop to realistic situations. Each scenario requires participants to use skills learned from the previous part - Skills Development Exercises. The circumstances vary which lets participants use all their skills to work through different challenges. Practice begins with simple situations and progresses to multiple injury accidents.!
Final Exam
Classroom or eLearning assessments, Participants take the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) Final Exam to successfully complete the Primary Care and the Secondary Care (First Aid) Final Exam to successfully complete the Secondary Care.
